MitOx Lab celebrates a year of hard work and achievement by the Royal Free Intensive Care Research Team (Dan Martin, Helder Filipe, Christine Eastgate, Margaret McNeil and Jia Stevens) by hitting the seas, for the inaugural Crew Day on the Solent.
We found our sea legs (wobbly), strengthened our winching arms, and mastered the clove hitch and the jibe (both intentional, and not so intentional). We learned that even skippers can swim, in an emergency.
Plans hatched for MitOx superyacht to take up the mantle of Darwin’s HMS Beagle and the Starship Enterprise. Broadly similar 5-year mission*, this time focussing on intracellular rather than extraterrestrial space:
“To explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilisations, to boldly go where no man (2018: or woman) has gone before.”
